Holy Child Catholic School was thrilled this fall to enter into APIAL and enjoy our first season of sports. Dr. Phil Pohl, Science instructor for our Upper school, volunteered to be our athletic director and he organized everything so that our girls could play basketball. Two parents, Mr. Indiana Jones and Mr. Brooke Jilek volunteered to be the coaches. The ladies dove right in, without skipping a beat, and won 6 out of 8 games. Our community rallied together and supported our athletes. Being a Catholic and Classical school we had to choose a name that represented our spirit. The school voted and we chose, “Warriors of Mary.” The Western world has its origins in the warrior ethos as embodied by Achilles, hero of Homer’s "Iliad." We are also committed to devoting ourselves to Our Lady and the battle for souls. Go Warriors of Mary!
