St. Mary’s Catholic School in Albuquerque has a rich history in part due to the amazing families that have left their mark. Part of our mission at St. Mary’s is to share how these families have made an impact.
The Labreche family has been an important part of the St. Mary’s community for nine years and hopefully seven more years to come as their youngest, Beau is in first grade. He often tells his mom he is grateful for the kind teachers, and he has fun and enjoys school. Sophia is in eighth grade, and Madelaine is a fourth grader. In addition to their children, many other family members have attended St. Mary’s.
After touring several schools, Sophia and mom felt welcomed. “I still remember visiting Mrs. Wisor’s Pre-K class and all the students being so friendly to Sophia.” Now that Sophia is older, she likes school overall, but feels the dress code can be a little strict. Her favorite part of school is being a leader on her sports teams. She is leading the varsity team in volleyball and looking forward to track.
Mr. and Mrs. Labreche appreciate “…the level of education. But also importantly, we like the close-knit community. All the teachers and staff are happy, and it is reflected in how they treat the students from the moment they are dropped off and greeted every morning (music playing), to the time they say goodbye as they leave. The students are happy. The teachers and staff know the students’ names and are friendly.”
Madelaine says she likes her teachers and enjoys being with her friends. Her favorite part of school is lunch, recess, and her friends.
The Labreche family is also active in the St. Mary’s community, too. Playing sports, participating in Mass, school themed days, attending family game nights and enjoying community gatherings are all ways the Labreche family commits to our family.
“Our children have received an excellent education. Our faith is incorporated into daily routine, and they learn about our faith and virtues while at school.”
