Over 25 years ago, Sr. Marinella Domenici, SC. was the Principal of St. Mary's Catholic School in Downtown Albuquerque. Many students and alumni will remember her coined phrase, "love doves" as she so affectionally called the students around her. Even back then Sr. Marinella Domenici knew that to continue growing and supporting the school they needed to plan a fundraiser. Working together with the Consultative Council they planned what would soon be an annual fundraising event. The love of her Italian heritage and food influenced Sr. Marinella, she insisted that it be a pasta dinner, thus was the name, Pastabilities. This has remained the name and the main fundraising event annually for St. Mary’s Catholic School. Over the years the event has raised numerous funds supporting resources for the students. Over the last four years, funds from Pastabilities have been used to update facilities that secure our downtown campus.
St. Mary's, Albuquerque is the only dual language Catholic school in the state of New Mexico under the guidance of the Two-Way Immersion Network (TWIN-CS) through Boston College. They are also a school of inclusion through the University of Notre Dame to ensure children with all cognitive abilities know they are welcome to learn and grow in our school. Just the way Sr. Marinella would have wanted it!
