Spring is a wonderful time of the year. The days are getting longer and warmer. Trees are beginning to bud and flowers are slowly breaking through the once frozen ground. With the Easter season still upon us, there are signs of new life all around us. I thought this would be the perfect time to add two new events to the Risen Savior Catholic Preschool calendar.
On a beautiful spring morning, the fathers of all the little girls in our school were asked to accompany their daughters to our First Annual Daddy-Daughter Dance. A playlist was developed with the favorite song of each little girl so she could dance with her daddy to her special song. The Gathering Hall next to the preschool was decorated in a glittery disco theme, with pink and blue disco balls hanging from the ceiling. Pink and blue metallic streamers and balloons were draped across a wall as a backdrop for the attendees to take a photo together to commemorate this special event.
Several moms volunteered to serve drinks and snacks to the girls and their daddies as well as take photos. The girls were dressed in their finest dresses and had a wonderful time dancing with their daddies, dancing and socializing with their friends. “This was an amazing event, I’m so glad you organized this for us.”; said one dad at the dance. The dance was a fun and relaxing event for the dads to spend time with their daughters.
While the daddies danced the day away with their daughters, the mommies of all the boys in the preschool were invited to join their sons in their classrooms at our First Annual Mommy & Me Tea. Moms were encouraged to wear a fancy hat to the event and every mom did so. As the moms arrived, they were taken to a springtime backdrop to take a photo with their son.
Then the moms were escorted by their sons to their classrooms, where an elegant table was set with actual fine China for both moms and sons. Finger sandwiches and desserts were served along with peach and raspberry teas to enjoy along with their food and desserts. The moms had a great time with their sons and the other moms in attendance. One mom commented; “ I can’t believe you went through all this trouble for us. I feel so special.”
It was such an amazing day with all our families that we will definitely do this again next year.
